“Sensors, sensors everywhere…The Smart Nation initiative looks to turn the island into a “living laboratory” — a kind of playground for testing smart solutions to urban issues.”
As big as COP21 (2015 Paris Climate agreement), Habitat III intends to change city life forever, and yet hardly anyone knows it will occur next month in Quito, Ecuador. The scientifically ignorant will apply their “science of social engineering” to demand how the rest of humanity should live. If you didn’t like Agenda 21, 2030 Agenda, ICLEI, etc., then you will understand why Habitat III is being compared to the Olympics.
The authors peg this correctly: “But with centralised algorithms managing every facet of society, data-driven technocracy is threatening to overwhelm innovation and democracy.” However, they do not see the overall agenda of Technocracy in the first place.
Yet another ‘non-binding international agreement’. The New Urban Agenda will be adopted this October and will shape city development for the next 20 years.
All rhetoric aside about how this will benefit residents, recognize that this is a pure 100% exercise in Technocracy by Technocrats. First, the primary source of funding is the National Science Foundation (NSF), with additional funds coming from the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL, a government laboratory). Both organizations are saturated with Technocrats who aspire to run society as a “science of social engineering” project. Second, the hardware and software were both created at the Argonne National Laboratory. Thus, this is exclusively a government project.
Global city planners are actively transforming large cities into managed technates containing ‘car-free’ zones, where public transportation, bicycles or foot-power will be the only modes of transportation.
Technocrat scientists believe they can ‘code’ any kind of future they want, but what about what everyone else wants? These are the overlords of Technocracy who believe that we should just ‘trust them’ to build Utopia.
TN Note: If you thought Agenda 21 was dangerous to freedom and liberty, just wait until you see the New Urban Agenda that will be produced at the upcoming Habitat III conference. The original ‘Urban Agenda’ was based on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which have been updated with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will be the basis for the New Urban Agenda.
