UK Miscarriages Rise 366% After Taking COVID-19 Vaccine

Granted that the numbers are still relatively small, but the statistical increase is stunning. Medical consequences of taking the COVID vaccine will not be forthcoming from Big Pharma, who invariably say that reactions are coincidental to taking the injection. In other words, they are not linked. ⁃ TN Editor

Losing a new born is a heart breaking endeavour, as is the pain of losing an unborn child. Which is why we’re both saddened and shocked to bring you the latest update on the number of unborn and newborn children to lose their lives as a result of the mothers receiving one of the Covid-19 vaccines in the United Kingdom.

The Government have released weekly reports on adverse reactions to the experimental Covid-19 vaccines, the first of which covered data inputted to the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme from the 9th December 2020 through to the 24th January 2021. Their latest report (find it here), which is the seventh to be released covers data inputted to the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme from the 9th December 2020 though to the 7th March 2021.

Just six weeks separate the first and seventh report, and the shocking increase in the number of women losing their unborn and newborn child in that time due to having either the Pfizer or AstraZeneca Covid vaccine is appalling.

This was the Governments own advice upon emergency approval of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine –

Pregnancy’
There are no or limited amount of data from the use of COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2.
Animal reproductive toxicity studies have not been completed. COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine
BNT162b2 is not recommended during pregnancy.

For women of childbearing age, pregnancy should be excluded before vaccination. In addition, women
of childbearing age should be advised to avoid pregnancy for at least 2 months after their second dose.

We told you about this back in December, as the Governments own advice also included comments on breast-feeding and fertility which were as follows –

Breast-feeding
It is unknown whether COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 is excreted in human milk. A risk to
the newborns/infants cannot be excluded. COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 should not be used
during breast-feeding.
Fertility
It is unknown whether COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 has an impact on fertility.’

It is because of this advice released by the UK Government that we were so shocked to see in the first released report of adverse reactions to the Covid vaccines, using data inputted to the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme up to the 24th January 2021 a total of 4 women had suffered a miscarriage as a result of having the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

State v. God: A Deeper Look Into The Intensifying Religious War

True Biblical Christianity is pitted against the Progressive state religion that would see man’s effort to build the Kingdom of God on earth. The pressure to break the Kingdom of Heaven mentality will only intensify as Technocrats take over the world for their earthly Utopia. ⁃ TN Editor

On February 25, the House of Representatives passed the Equality Act, a bill that is touted as a step forward for civil rights in the United States. If enacted, the bill would add sexual orientation and gender identity to the federally protected classes that cannot be discriminated against and would expand where such protections are applied. While expanding such protections is not necessarily widely opposed (Mormon Republican Chris Stewart has introduced the Fairness for All Act as an alternative bill), the act explicitly says that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 cannot be invoked, and this has generated tremendous concern that both private businesses and religious institutions will be forced to toe the current cultural line regarding sexual and gender ideology, or else face discrimination suits and be sued into oblivion.

Organizations such as the Heritage Foundation and Christianity Today have argued against the bill on the basis of its effects on religious institutions, private schools, the legal rights of parents, and women’s athletics. While a discussion of such effects is important, the conversation has largely been missing the broader context of where this legislation and the numerous other proposals like it emerge from.

In his important essay “The Balance of Power in Society” sociologist Frank Tannenbaum argues that “society is possessed by a series of irreducible institutions, perennial through time, that in effect both describe man and define the basic role he plays.” These perennial institutions are the state, the church, the family, and the market. These institutions have eternally striven against each other to gain dominance and become what sociologist Robert Nisbet would call the primary reference group for its members, meaning the primary way in which they understand themselves and shape their beliefs and actions. At various times we can see one group coming to dominate the others, such as when the “trustee” form of family dominated social life in clan-based societies, or when the Roman Catholic Church exhibited tremendous power over the political affairs of Europe. Currently, we live in an epoch where the state has come to dominate social life to an extent never previously seen in human history.

It is useful to analyze the Equality Act from this perspective to truly understand its full implications. State hostility towards religion and the religious institutions through which religion is exercised is not driven solely, or in some cases even primarily, by the current secular zeitgeist. Rather, religion and religious institutions represent a major obstacle to the exercise of state control and the centralization of social power. In the Western context, orthodox Christianity especially poses a threat to this agenda due to its adherents’ membership in a kingdom “not of this world.” It is difficult for the immanent state to compete to be the primary reference for people who, by virtue of their religion, are members of a transcendent order.

However, it cannot be denied that the state has been very successful in undermining and sapping the power of religious institutions through two different means. The first is by expropriating those mundane areas of social responsibility and function that have traditionally been the purview of the church, such as charity and education. While churches are still involved in such things, the state has supplanted them as the primary social institution that provides them.

As Nisbet argues in his book The Quest for Community, a social group cannot survive for long if its chief functional purpose is lost, and unless new institutional functions are adapted, the group’s “psychological influence will be minimal.” No doubt the state has succeeded in centralizing so much power due to its success in poaching the historical functions of the church and family.

I noted above that in the Western context the emphasis of orthodox Christianity on transcendental concerns has proven to be a stumbling block to the state when it comes to becoming citizens’ primary reference group. However, the state has also attempted to muscle into that territory as well. Earlier I classified the state and the church as being two different institutions with separate functions. While this is often true, especially in the West due to the Augustinian formulation of the City of God and the Earthly City, in various times in history the functions have been unified.

In his work The Political Religions, political theorist Eric Voegelin explored this idea and traced its earliest sophisticated formulation back to Amenhotep IV/Akhenaton, a fourteenth-century BC pharaoh who temporarily upended Egyptian civilization by abolishing the old deities and introducing the monotheistic worship of the sun god Aton. By abolishing the old gods (references to traditional deities were eradicated and Amenhotep changed his name so that it no longer referenced the old god Amon), the newly named Akhenaton also abolished the old priesthood as well. What was new and innovative about Aton was that he was not just a limited god of Egypt, but in fact the god of the universe, who speaks and acts through his son, the Pharaoh. By obliterating the old gods such as Osiris, Voegelin argued that Akhenaton abolished those aspects of the Egyptian religion that were of the utmost importance to individuals, such as judgment and life after death, and replaced them only with a collective political religion of empire. This inability to fulfill the spiritual needs of the people, combined with the reaction of the defrocked priestly caste, led to backlash and restoration of the old order after the death of Akhenaton, when it was his turn to be obliterated from history.

Voegelin traces this idea of political religion through the ages and argues that Christianity, through the work of Augustine, seriously upended “the cosmos of the divinely analogous state” by subordinating the political-temporal sphere to the spiritual one. For hundreds of years this understanding dominated medieval Europe, but with the advent of the Enlightenment began to crack apart under a succession of philosophers, most notably Thomas Hobbes with his conception of the Leviathan state. However, Voegelin notes that over time, as the world has secularized, the political religions have closed themselves off to claims of being the conduit for God’s action on earth and instead have come to embody immanent forces such as “the order of history” or “the order of blood.” Metaphysics and religion have been banished in favor of a vocabulary of “science” that is “inner-worldly” and therefore closed off to what Voegelin would call the ground of being through which humans experience transcendent reality.

In the United States, our political religion takes the form of progressivism, which itself is the product of Protestant clergy who abandoned orthodoxy in the nineteenth century in favor of an immanent ideology in which the US would serve as the instrument to build God’s kingdom on earth. In his essay “The Progressive Era and the Family,” Murray Rothbard traces this movement to the rise of what he terms “evangelical pietism” and the way in which it altered traditional doctrine to require that man work for his own salvation by working for the salvation of the rest of the world through its immanent reformation.

The song “Battle Hymn of the Republic” was one product of this way of thinking and, in the words of one Voegelin scholar, its author “transforms Christ’s redemptive mission—which is not of this world—into the world immanent social activism of the Anti‑Slavery movement.” Rather than waiting for Christ to return, when he shall establish a new heaven and a new earth, the progressive creed held that it is the job of every true Christian to redeem the fallen world and to build God’s kingdom on earth right now. The Civil War was understood as one such redemptive episode (complete with a martyr in the form of Abe Lincoln), as was the First World War. In his book The War for Righteousness, historian Richard M. Gamble documents the way in which Progressive Protestant clergy led the charge to bring the US into the war with hopes of redeeming the world. Like Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson was perceived as a tragic martyr for the cause and was viewed with clearly religious veneration.

While the American political religion began by attempting to build the kingdom of God on earth, it has, in Voegelin’s term, ended up as an “inner-worldly” religion that does not even attempt to maintain a connection to the transcendent order of reality, and instead justifies itself as being the conduit through which the inexorable march of “progress” flows forth. Democracy and equality, not the return of Christ, are the new end of history.

The end result is that the state seeks to not only supplant religious institutions by usurping their mundane functions but by usurping their spiritual functions as well. Like the priests of Akhenaton’s day, American religious institutions, especially orthodox Christian ones, are both a competing pole of social power and the manifestation of a rival religion that must be subdued if the “State-God,” in the words of J.R.R. Tolkien, is to prevail.

In this context, with legislation like the Equality Act the state is not only seeking to further erode the social power of religious institutions by making religious education or adoption more difficult, but it is also advancing a rival religious doctrine at the same time by foisting progressive sexual and gender ideology on society.

It is likely that the Equality Act will not manage to pass the Senate in its current form, but the reality of the situation is that as long as the progressive political religion remains a potent force in American life, independent repositories of social power such as the family and the church will continually be under sustained attack. We can only hope that one day progressivism will meet the same fate that Aton did after the passing of Akhenaton, but until then, those who do not adhere to the cult of the “State-God” can only resist its impositions as best we can.

Congress v. God: Equality Act Sets Up Religious War

The First Amendment is very clear:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

In defiance of “Congress shall make no law”, the House of Representatives just passed the H.R.5 – Equality Actwhich has now been read twice in the Senate and placed on the Senate’s Legislative Calendar for further consideration and vote.

If passed by the Senate, it will undoubtedly be signed by the President to become the law of the land.

The stated purpose of H.R.5 is “to expand as well as clarify, confirm and create greater consistency in the protections and remedies against discrimination on the basis of all covered characteristics and to provide guidance and notice to individuals, organizations, corporations, and agencies regarding their obligations under the law.” (Sec. 2(b))

To accomplish this, H.R.5 primarily retrofits and expands the language of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include all self-declared LGBTQ designations alongside “race, color, religion, sex or national origin.”

The original purpose of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was to end discrimination against African Americans, granting them access to restaurants, transportation and other public facilities. It has been applied to other minorities as well.

H.R.5 now elevates LGBTQ characteristics, which are arbitrarily self-declared, with the unchangeable color of your skin, your race, your place of birth, your birth sex, etc.

However, as I read the entire text of H.R.5, I was struck with the inclusion of Sec. 1107 that stated:

“The Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 (42 U.S.C. 2000bb et seq.) shall not provide a claim concerning, or a defense to a claim under, a covered title, or provide a basis for challenging the application or enforcement of a covered title.”.

Huh? What does the LGBTQ agenda have to do with the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993?

Ironically, this 1993 Act was sponsored by then-Rep. Charles Schumer (D-NY-9) and it actually strengthened the religious rights in the First Amendment. For instance, it states: “Congress finds that the framers of the Constitution, recognizing free exercise of religion as an unalienable right, secured its protection in the First Amendment of the Constitution.” (Sec. 2(a)(1))

Section 3(a) then states, “In general, Government shall not substantially burden a person’s exercise of religion even if the burden results from a rule of general applicability.”

Most importantly, the 1993 act provided legal remedy for government violations: “A person whose religious exercise has been burdened in violation of this section may assert that violation as a claim or defense in a judicial proceeding and obtain appropriate relief against a government. Standing to assert a claim or defense under this section shall be governed by the general rules of standing under article II of the Constitution.” (Sec. 3(c) Judicial Relief)

Thus, H.R.5 specifically and completely guts the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993 and removes any possible legal remedy in the name of religious interference or oppression.

Churches, pastors, Christian school administrators, religious organizations: are you paying attention here? You just lost your First Amendment right to “free exercise” of religion and the exemption that might have otherwise protected you from the ramifications of the Equality Act.

The implications are staggering for Christian organizations of all types. If an LGBTQ person applies for employment, for instance, you must consider them on an equal basis with other candidates, regardless of whether or not they believe the Bible or the faith tenets of your organization. Hiring LGBTQ persons at a Christian school would destroy  their curriculum and closely held moral standards.

Major sections of the Bible would immediately be labeled as “hate speech” if they offend or discriminate against LGBTQ staff members or parishioners. Would pastors and teachers just rip those pages out of their Bibles?

In sum, H.R.5 is set to become a destroyer of Christian organizations, a death sentence to the First Amendment and to all of its unalienable rights given by God in the first place.

Whatever the case, Congress has chosen to pick a direct fight with God and they would do well to rethink their actions. Pastors and church leaders would do well to rethink how they will navigate this coming religious war.

Denial will not make it all go away.

Biblical Christianity Likened To QAnon As A Conspiracy Theory

The big guns of the “cancel culture” are being leveled at Bible-believing Christians, likening them to members of QAnon. This article may offend some Christians, but it’s time to wake up to how globalization is recasting Christianity as an extremist threat to national security and the scape goat for all sorts of spurious charges. ⁃ TN Editor

Many people around the world looked on aghast as they witnessed the harm done by conspiracy theories such as QAnon and the myth of the stolen US election that led to the attack on the US Capitol Building on January 6. Yet while these ideas will no doubt fade in time, there is arguably a much more enduring conspiracy theory that also pervades America in the form of young Earth creationism. And it’s one that we cannot ignore because it is dangerously opposed to science.

In the US today, up to 40% of adults agree with the young Earth creationist claim that all humans are descended from Adam and Eve within the past 10,000 years. They also believe that living creatures are the result of “special creation” rather than evolution and shared ancestry. And that Noah’s flood was worldwide and responsible for the sediments in the geologic column (layers of rock built up over millions of years), such as those exposed in the Grand Canyon.

Such beliefs derive from the doctrine of biblical infallibility, long accepted as integral to the faith of numerous evangelical and Baptist churches throughout the world, including the Free Church of Scotland. But I would argue that the present-day creationist movement is a fully fledged conspiracy theory. It meets all the criteria, offering a complete parallel universe with its own organisations and rules of evidence, and claims that the scientific establishment promoting evolution is an arrogant and morally corrupt elite.

This so-called elite supposedly conspires to monopolise academic employment and research grants. Its alleged objective is to deny divine authority, and the ultimate beneficiary and prime mover is Satan.

Creationism re-emerged in this form in reaction to the mid-20th century emphasis on science education. Its key text is the long-time best seller, The Genesis Flood, by John C Whitcomb and Henry M Morris. This provided the inspiration for Morris’s own Institute for Creation Research, and for its offshoots, Answers in Genesis and Creation Ministries International.

Ken Ham, the founder and chief executive of Answers in Genesis, is also responsible for the highly lucrative Ark Encounter theme park and Creation Museum in Kentucky. As a visit to any of these websites will show, their creationism is completely hostile to science, while paradoxically claiming to be scientific.

These are common conspiracy theory tactics at play. Creationists go to great lengths to demonise the proponents of evolution, and to undermine the overwhelming evidence in its favour.

There are numerous organisations, among them Biologos, the American Scientific Affiliation, the Faraday Institute, and the Clergy Letter Project, which describes themselves as “an endeavour designed to demonstrate that religion and science can be compatible”, that is, promoting evolution science within the context of religious belief. Even so, creationists insist on linking together the separate topics of evolution, materialist philosophy, and the promotion of atheism.

According to Answers in Genesis, evolution science is a work of Satan, while former US Congressman Paul Broun has described it as “a lie straight from the pit of hell”. When he said that, by the way, he was a member of the House of Representatives Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.

Like other conspiracy theorists, creationists immunise themselves from fact-based criticism. They label the study of the past as based on unprovable assumptions, thus disqualifying in advance the plain evidence of geology.

They then attack other evidence by focusing on specific frauds, such as Piltdown man – a hoax skeleton purportedly of a missing link between humans and other apes that was debunked more than 60 years ago – or the dinosaur-bird amalgam “Archaeoraptor”, discredited by sharp-eyed scientists before ever making it into the peer-reviewed literature (although not before making it into National Geographic).

Christian Purge Envisioned During Biden/Harris Administration

Anti-Christian vitriol is rising out of the radical Democrat left and is more clearly framing a coming religious war in America that blames Christians for impeding the “progress” of a dark agenda. The Scientism that underpins Technocracy and Transhumanism only recognizes scientific truth while specifically excluding Biblical truth as mythical, unfounded and dangerous.

There is no lack of anti-Christian church activity during the Great Panic of 2020 pandemic. Churches are ordered closed or greatly restricted while casinos, Walmarts and Costcos stay open. Those churches that defied such orders have been blamed for being “super-spreaders” and charged as “unloving”, uncaring, callous and even murderous. ⁃ TN Editor

A group backed by congressional Democrats touting a “Secular America” has sent a 28-page document to the Biden transition team advising him to strip First Amendment rights from Christians who advocate traditional biblical positions on the sanctity of life, marriage, education and the nuclear family.

The group, calling themselves the Secular Democrats of America, sent the letter to Biden’s team under the title “Restoring Constitutional Secularism and Patriotic Pluralism in the White House: Prepared exclusively by Secular Democrats of America PAC for President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris Transition Team.”

The document, presented by Reps Jamie Raskin, D-Md., and Jared Huffman, D-Calif., and endorsed by Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Calif., states that an incoming Biden administration must “educate the American public,” particularly those identified as the “religious right,” on the need to keep their “religious dogma” to themselves. The document calls for a purge of social conservatives from all levels of government, labeling them as “white nationalist” and “conspiracy theorists.”

“They don’t have a problem with churches, they have a problem with conservative churches that voted for Donald Trump,” Brannon Howse, a conservative radio host who aired a program on the document Monday night, told LeoHohmann.com. “And some of the people promoting this are members of the leftist neo-evangelical community.”

He said vengeful Democrats are making enemy lists and have their sights set on the traditional Catholic community as well as the conservative evangelical Protestant community – two groups that voted for Donald Trump in droves.

“As long as you’re teaching a leftist progressive socialist religiosity you’ll be just fine, but if you preach anything that is wrapped around a Judeo-Christian value system they’re coming after you,” Howse said. “They’re telling Biden don’t use the term Judeo-Christian. They don’t like that term.”

The document states:

“The constant entanglement of religion and government—promoted by the religious right and intensified by the Trump administration—sweeps far beyond hot-button ‘culture war’ issues like abortion and contraception. It permeates every aspect of government policy— healthcare, public and private education, foreign policy, tax policy, environmental policy, military policy, and more, all of which will be addressed in this document.”

It goes on to support the most draconian governmental responses to the COVID-19 virus and climate change, which sounds eerily similar to the World Economic Forum’s proposed “great reset” of the global economic and social order [this is a plan to replace free-enterprise capitalism with a type of scientific dictatorship run by unelected technocrats].

The document chastises President Trump for not following all of the arbitrary, constantly changing rules coming from the World Health Organization and “experts” like Dr. Anthony Fauci:

“Policy decisions that should be guided by science and evidence — on matters ranging from climate change to comprehensive sex education to federal funding for stem cell research — have been skewed or blocked entirely by powerful religious interest groups and further undermined at every turn by the Trump administration. There is no example more grave than this administration’s lethal mishandling of the COVID-19 global pandemic, which has brought death to hundreds of thousands of Americans. Disregard for science and disdain for expertise have reached an all-time high in this Administration of magical thinkers and conspiracy theorists, but these policy distortions did not begin with the Trump administration and will not end without deliberate action to restore rationalist, scientific and pragmatic policy methods and judgment. We believe that now is the right time to make the case for reviving a Jeffersonian approach to governance that favors reason, science, and evidence, and to disentangle government policy from the influence of sectarian religious interests that have become dangerously entrenched at all levels of government.”

Labeling traditional Christian views as ‘white supremacist’

Trevor Loudon, an author and filmmaker specializing in communist revolutionary movements throughout history, described the document in an interview Monday with Howse at Worldview Weekend TV as “an advisory to what they hope is going to be President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris basically to clamp down on religious liberty in this country.”

The document demonizes conservative Christians as enemies of the state, equating them with “white nationalists” and “white supremacy,” which to the left is code for fascism, deserving of extreme retribution and ostracizing them from society.

The paper states:

“We urge you not to underestimate the institutional strength of what we refer to (interchangeably) in this document as the ‘Christian nationalist movement’ or the ‘religious right.’ … Its extreme and sectarian agenda is on constant display under the Trump-Pence administration. Its political ideology is anti-democratic and anti-scientific. It provides constant cover for white supremacy.”

Loudon told Worldview TV that this could be interpreted as a recommendation to send conservative Christians to re-education camps.

“Well it was definitely talking about re-educating, and reprograming people who have a traditional Christian point of view,” Loudon said. “From their perspective, these are dangerous people. They’re racist, they’re nationalist and they really need to be reprogrammed and there needs to be programs developed to do that, to deprogram them.”

Loudon, who has spent decades studying the speeches, papers, articles and books put out by radical leftists, says that when the left says they’re going to “unbrainwash you,” what they’re really saying is they want to brainwash you in their way of thinking.

“This is a document that the communists would be proud of. It is couched in the same sort of manner that I read in the communist press,” Loudon said. “They use certain weasel words that you can figure out what it means, and it is very, very scary stuff.”

Preparing for a Maoist Cultural Revolution?

Yet, this document will undoubtedly find a receptive ear in the Biden camp, which has already been infiltrated by Chinese-supporting communist sympathizers. One such person is Anita Dunn, who Biden hired last summer to be the chief strategy adviser. Dunn was caught on audio saying her favorite political philosopher is Chairman Mao Tse Tung, the godfather of Chinese communism who was responsible for launching the Chinese Cultural Revolution that brutally forced the Chinese people to submit to his strict anti-freedom, anti-God, anti-religion policies that erased Christianity from public life and enthroned the state as the one and only acceptable god in that country.

While they don’t call themselves communists, radicalized Democrats plan to launch a similar cultural revolution in America if Biden gets in power, said Loudon.

“The Democratic party is now a Marxist party,” Loudon said. “This document is aimed at the Marxists’ main enemy in this country, which is traditional Christianity. It’s very, very clear.”

Authors include Rep. Jamie Raskin, son of Marcus Raskin, the founder of the Institute for Policy Studies, which Loudon said has connections to the Soviets dating back to the 1970s.

“Jamie Raskin has long connections to the Democratic Socialists of America, he’s written for their publication, and he’s what I call a ‘small c communist,’ meaning he’s not actually a member of the Communist Party but he’s a sympathizer and a collaborator with a neo-communist organization.”

Another author is Rep. Jared Huffman, D-Calif., a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which was established by socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders. Also listed as a co-author is Rep. Jerry McNerney.

The document calls on Biden to make the following changes:

  • Eliminating government support for all crisis pregnancy centers and all abstinence-only education programs in schools.
  • Deny free speech and religious liberty to select Americans based on their religious beliefs.
  • Incentivize states to strip parents of all non-medical exemptions to mandatory vaccinations for children in schools or daycare centers.
  • Remove “In God We Trust” from U.S. currency.
  • Repeal the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA)
  • Rescind and replace the Trump DOJ’s federal protections for religious liberty.
  • Appoint an attorney general who will support governors whose emergency COVID-19 executive orders restrict gatherings at houses of worship.
  • Reverse the Trump administration policies that have allowed faith-based government-funded contractors to provide adoption and foster care services and work with Congress to pass the Every Child Deserves a Family Act.
  • Fully and robustly fund “comprehensive” sex education, which to the leftist means encouraging elementary and middle school-age children to declare themselves one of dozens of made-up non-biological gender identities and learn how to engage in various deviant forms of sex.
  • Work with governors to educate and combat Project Blitz and encourage the introduction of the Do No Harm Act at the state level. [Project Blitz is a pro-family lobbying group described by the Secular Democrats as “a coordinated effort by Christian Nationalists to inject religion into public education, attack reproductive healthcare, and undermine LGBTQ equality using a distorted definition of ‘religious freedom.’”
  • The document tells Biden: “We urge you to avoid invoking the phrase ‘Judeo-Christian values,’ as it has been weaponized by the religious right to advance an agenda that has the veneer of inclusivity but actually undermines religious freedom and tolerance and does not represent tens of millions of Americans implicitly excluded from its formulation.

Among those endorsing the document as part of the Congressional Free Thought Caucus are the following members of Congress, all Democrats:

  • Rep. Jared Huffman (Co-Chair and Founding Member)
  • Rep. Jamie Raskin (Co-Chair and Founding Member)
  • Rep. Dan Kildee, D-Mich. (Founding Member)
  • Rep. Jerry McNerney, (Founding Member)
  • Rep. Don Beyer Jr., D-Va.
  • Rep. Sean Casten, D-Ill.
  • Rep. Steve Cohen, D-TN
  • Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash.
  • Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga.
  • Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif.
  • Eleanor Holmes Norton, non-voting delegate from D.C.
  • Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wisc.
  • Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich.
  • Rep. Susan Wild, D-Pa.

Rashida Tlaib wrapped herself in the Palestinian flag on election night 2018, then went on a rant swearing to her young son that, when it came to Trump, “We’re going to impeach the Mother F’r.”

Steve Cohen has ties to Memphis Socialist Party USA and to members of Liberation Road, a pro-China communist organization. He traveled to Cuba in 2011.

“This is a Democratic Socialist of America-influenced document. It’s Marxist to the core,” Loudon said.

You can see from the flyer below that the Secular Democrats of America were preaching their hateful, divisive message before the election, slandering Christians who hold mainstream conservative views as part of a “white supremacy” conspiracy theory.

The document sent to Biden explicitly singles out the “religious right” — Americans who have always leaned conservative, who elected Ronald Reagan in 1980 and Donald Trump in 2016.

“This is aimed directly at the religious right for one reason and one reason alone, they hate their politics,” Loudon said.

“From the leftist point of view, from the communist point of view, they have control of Hollywood, they control the education system, the media, most of our institutions; the only thing they don’t control is conservative Bible-believing Christians. They voted for Ronald Reagan and they voted for Donald Trump.”

It was these same Christian conservatives who were seen as having blocked Hillary Clinton’s coronation as the rightful heir to Barack Obama.

“She was supposed to finish off the communization of America and these Christians went out and voted for Donald Trump,” Loudon said.

They turned out for Trump again in 2020, in record numbers [Trump was the first incumbent president in American history who received more votes in his second run and yet supposedly did not win re-election].

“So the left understands, they have to get on top of Christianity, they have to suppress it, or pervert it into their own direction,” Loudon said.

Clinton stated in her 2016 campaign that people with “deep-seated religious and cultural beliefs, cultural codes and structural biases have to be changed,” a bigoted comment that garnered her no negative press from the establishment media.

Joe Biden in 2018 called the same body of believers, those who voted for Trump, the “dregs of society.”

Their strategy calls for redefining conservative churches and Christians as “white nationalist” and target them for attacks in the media, on social media, and by weaponizing the federal Department of Justice against these declared enemies.

All Christians who love their country, God and the Constitution will be targeted. Black churches and black pastors will not get a pass.

“Even if you’re black you can be a ‘white nationalist’ in these folks’ eyes and you’re a danger to society,” Loudon said. “You’re residing in a country whose Declaration of Independence says your rights come from God, you believe in borders, freedom, but if you believe in that according to these people, you’re an enemy of the state.”

“If you believe that, you need to be shut down, reprogramed and put out of business.”

The Secular Democrats of America publishes on its website a list of atheist and humanist elected officials who support its agenda of wiping all vestiges of Christianity from public life, from the federal level all the way down to the state and local levels.

Making lists and checking them twice

Loudon said Marxists are historically “very efficient about identifying their enemies.”

“Look at any communist revolution in history and they always have lists, of who to go after, who their enemies were, who to shut down, who to arrest, who to execute. Marxists take revolution as a science, they’re very methodical,” he said. “And they always have lists.”

And atop that list is traditional Christianity. Why? Because it honors a higher authority than the state.

“These people are secular Marxists,” Loudon said. “Their own religion is the state. They do not want competition. They are absolutely antithetical to religion. You see this in California. They shut down churches but strip clubs and casinos are still open.”

Loudon challenged Christians to get prepared for the most anti-Christian administration in history should Biden get inaugurated and urged them not to give up their First or Second Amendment rights without a fight.

“Everybody should be prepared because the government is coming for you if these people get into power. They’re coming to shut down your liberties, and the best guarantee of a free society is an armed protective society. Keep your Second Amendment. …It’s not like the left hates guns. They just want a monopoly on the guns. If a thousand people have guns and a million people have none, who’s going to win that fight?”

War Against Religion Seen As CA Gov. Newsom Ignores SCOTUS Ruling

California Governor Gavin Newsom chooses to ignore the Supreme Court ruling on lifting restrictions against churches and synagogues. This is a natural outcome of the antipathy between progressivism and Biblical thought that has existed for well over 100 years. ⁃ TN Editor

The United States Supreme Court rebuked Democrat New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for lockdowns imposed on houses of worship, but Democrat California Gov. Gavin Newsom is ignoring the high court’s lifting of restrictions in New York and is doubling down on his coronavirus lockdowns on religious gatherings.

Newsom has informed the court that his actions are justified by the increase in virus cases and the “perils” of indoor gatherings where people sing or chant.

“California is experiencing an unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases, creating an even greater public health need for restrictions on prolonged communal gatherings in indoor places,” California Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s office said in a filing opposing a church group’s request for restrictions to be lifted.

“Scientific evidence demonstrates why those activities pose a particularly grave threat of virus transmission during the current pandemic,” the state’s lawyers said.

Newsom has not cracked down on other gatherings, including sports events, protests, or even Hollywood movie productions.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported on the restrictions that seem to target churches and other places of worship:

The court rejected a San Diego County church’s challenge in May to Newsom’s orders limiting indoor worship services to 25% of the building’s capacity, with a maximum attendance of 100. Chief Justice John Roberts cast the deciding vote in the 5-4 ruling, saying the state was treating churches the same as secular businesses and should be allowed to make its own health care decisions.

Anticipating the ruling, California churches had already asked the Supreme Court to step into their cases, now in lower courts, and strike down Newsom’s current restrictions. For counties in high-risk areas, which covers most of the state, the governor is forbidding all indoor worship services because of the rise in COVID cases, while allowing 25 percent indoor attendance in moderate-risk counties.

The request for immediate court intervention was filed by Harvest Rock Church of Pasadena and Harvest International Ministry, which is affiliated with 162 California churches. And Salvatore Cordileone, the Catholic archbishop in San Francisco, said Saturday he may also challenge Newsom’s order in court.

Behavioral Analysis: The Covidian Cult

Among the many forces and objectives playing out with the globalist-driven Great Panic of 2020, cult-like behavior is coalescing into a definable cult that has all the markings typical of other cults in modern history. ⁃ TN Editor

One of the hallmarks of totalitarianism is mass conformity to a psychotic official narrative. Not a regular official narrative, like the “Cold War” or the “War on Terror” narratives. A totally delusional official narrative that has little or no connection to reality and that is contradicted by a preponderance of facts.

Nazism and Stalinism are the classic examples, but the phenomenon is better observed in cults and other sub-cultural societal groups. Numerous examples will spring to mind: the Manson family, Jim Jones’ People’s Temple, the Church of Scientology, Heavens Gate, etc., each with its own psychotic official narrative: Helter Skelter, Christian Communism, Xenu and the Galactic Confederacy, and so on.

Looking in from the dominant culture (or back through time in the case of the Nazis), the delusional nature of these official narratives is glaringly obvious to most rational people. What many people fail to understand is that to those who fall prey to them (whether individual cult members or entire totalitarian societies) such narratives do not register as psychotic.

On the contrary, they feel entirely normal. Everything in their social “reality” reifies and reaffirms the narrative, and anything that challenges or contradicts it is perceived as an existential threat.

These narratives are invariably paranoid, portraying the cult as threatened or persecuted by an evil enemy or antagonistic force which only unquestioning conformity to the cult’s ideology can save its members from. It makes little difference whether this antagonist is mainstream culture, body thetans, counter-revolutionaries, Jews, or a virus.

The point is not the identity of the enemy. The point is the atmosphere of paranoia and hysteria the official narrative generates, which keeps the cult members (or the society) compliant.

In addition to being paranoid, these narratives are often internally inconsistent, illogical, and … well, just completely ridiculous. This does not weaken them, as one might suspect. Actually, it increases their power, as it forces their adherents to attempt to reconcile their inconsistency and irrationality, and in many cases utter absurdity, in order to remain in good standing with the cult.

Such reconciliation is of course impossible, and causes the cult members’ minds to short circuit and abandon any semblance of critical thinking, which is precisely what the cult leader wants.

Moreover, cult leaders will often radically change these narratives for no apparent reason, forcing their cult members to abruptly forswear (and often even denounce as “heresy”) the beliefs they had previously been forced to profess, and behave as if they had never believed them, which causes their minds to further short circuit, until they eventually give up even trying to think rationally, and just mindlessly parrot whatever nonsensical gibberish the cult leader fills their heads with.

Also, the cult leader’s nonsensical gibberish is not as nonsensical as it may seem at first. Most of us, upon encountering such gibberish, assume that the cult leader is trying to communicate, and that something is very wrong with his brain. The cult leader isn’t trying to communicate. He is trying to disorient and control the listener’s mind.

Listen to Charlie Manson “rapping.” Not just to what he says, but how he says it. Note how he sprinkles bits of truth into his stream of free-associated nonsense, and his repetitive use of thought-terminating clichés, described by Robert J. Lifton as follows:

“The language of the totalist environment is characterized by the thought-terminating cliché. The most far-reaching and complex of human problems are compressed into brief, highly selective, definitive-sounding phrases, easily memorized and easily expressed. They become the start and finish of any ideological analysis.” – Thought Reform and the Psychology of Totalism: A Study of “Brainwashing” in China, 1961

If all this sounds familiar, good. Because the same techniques that most cult leaders use to control the minds of the members of their cults are used by totalitarian systems to control the minds of entire societies: Milieu Control, Loaded Language, Sacred Science, Demand for Purity, and other standard mind-control techniques.

It can happen to pretty much any society, just as anyone can fall prey to a cult, given the right set of circumstances.

It is happening to most of our societies right now. An official narrative is being implemented. A totalitarian official narrative. A totally psychotic official narrative, no less delusional than that of the Nazis, or the Manson family, or any other cult.

Most people cannot see that it is happening, for the simple reason that it is happening to them. They are literally unable to recognize it. The human mind is extremely resilient and inventive when it is pushed past its limits. Ask anyone who has struggled with psychosis or has taken too much LSD. We do not recognize when we are going insane.

When reality falls apart completely, the mind will create a delusional narrative, which appears just as “real” as our normal reality, because even a delusion is better than the stark raving terror of utter chaos.

This is what totalitarians and cult leaders count on, and exploit to implant their narratives in our minds, and why actual initiation rituals (as opposed to purely symbolic rituals) begin by attacking the subject’s mind with terror, pain, physical exhaustion, psychedelic drugs, or some other means of obliterating the subject’s perception of reality.

Once that is achieved, and the subject’s mind starts desperately trying to construct a new narrative to make sense out of the cognitive chaos and psychological trauma it is undergoing, it is relatively easy to “guide” that process and implant whatever narrative you want, assuming you have done your homework.

And this is why so many people — people who are able to easily recognize totalitarianism in cults and foreign countries — cannot perceive the totalitarianism that is taking shape now, right in front of their faces (or, rather, right inside their minds).

Nor can they perceive the delusional nature of the official “Covid-19” narrative, no more than those in Nazi Germany were able to perceive how completely delusional their official “master race” narrative was. Such people are neither ignorant nor stupid. They have been successfully initiated into a cult, which is essentially what totalitarianism is, albeit on a societal scale.

Oregon Professor Blames ‘White Christians’ For West Coast Wildfires

Global warming religionists are drawing the battle line against “white Christians” as being the source of their troubles. Professor Susan Shaw blames them for the unprecedented west coast fire season because of their disbelief of man-made global warming. Shaw’s anti-Bible and anti-God views are plainly evident.

The religion of Scientism is at the root of all things Technocracy and Transhumanism, and it posits that truth about the universe and man can only be found through science. All other belief systems are flatly rejected. Thus, philosophy, other religious systems and especially anything connected to the Bible, are viewed as worthless and in this case, harmful. ⁃ TN Editor

An Oregon State University professor of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies has alleged “white Christians” are to blame for West Coast wildfires because of their “denial of climate science.”

As revealed by the attentive folks at Campus Reform in an October 2 essay, Prof. Susan Shaw has insisted that “the West is burning while most white Christians turn away from the root causes of the devastation.”

Shaw writes that “the intensity and scope of these fires are a result of climate change” and its spread is due to the fact that “many Christians, especially white Christians, have embraced denial of climate science.”

“Just over half of white mainline Protestants agree that climate change is a crisis or major problem,” Shaw declares. “Only 44% of white evangelicals say the same. Nearly a quarter say it’s not a problem at all.”

The problem is not just religious but is also political, Shaw predictably asserts.

“The disturbing link between white evangelical support for Trump and disregard for climate change that disproportionately affects poor people of color around the world should probably not be all that surprising,” writes Shaw, who states that her “current research interests are in feminist studies in religion.”

“Not surprisingly, more than 70% of Democrats accept that human activity causes climate change, while only 22% of Republicans do,” Shaw laments. “Scholars suggest that politics more than religion may drive these beliefs, especially in such a partisan context as we presently have.”

Shaw fails to mention the role of forest management in the rampant spread of the fires. Last month, NPR observed that “California and Oregon in particular are far behind stated goals of treating millions of acres of forests and wild lands through restoration projects, selective thinning of trees and brush and prescribed burning.”

“The treatments they’ve been implementing for years haven’t really been at the scale that they need to be to offset a wind-driven, climate change-exacerbated event,” said Andrew Sánchez Meador, director of the Ecological Restoration Institute at Northern Arizona University.

Similarly, Chuck DeVore, the vice president of national initiatives at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, wrote last year in Forbes that “it’s not climate change that’s burning up the forests, killing people, and destroying hundreds of homes; it’s decades of environmental mismanagement that has created a tinderbox of unharvested timber, dead trees, and thick underbrush.”

Shaw, instead, sees the problem as rooted in apocalyptic evangelicalism.

“Many white Christians believe God won’t let climate change destroy the earth. Others see climate-related disasters as signs of the end times,” she declares.

‘Do What Thou Wilt Shall Be The Whole Of The Law’

This satanic mantra was created by the early-1900s occultist, Aleister Crowley, who was arguably one of the most evil men who lived in the 20th century. As the world turns to self-centered lawlessness, it’s no shock that satanic chaos reigns supreme as mobs destroy America.

CHAZ/CHAD in Seattle? Lawless and chaotic. Progressive liberalism? Makes it own law as it goes forward. Mobs of looters and destroyers? You get the point.

The 20th century Christian philosopher, Francis Schaeffer, noted in 1978 that when the natural cohesion of the Christian consensus in society disappears, the chaos that results will ultimately require the imposition of an external control by a manipulative elite. And yes, he used the term ‘Technocrat’ to describe such an elite. ⁃ TN Editor

We are in the middle of Act One of the 2nd American Civil War: Act Two could be right around the corner

“There are decades when nothing happens, and there are weeks where decades happen.” – Vladimir Lenin, Russian communist

“The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.” – Antonio Gramsci, father of Cultural Marxism

What we have been watching play out on the streets of America’s cities the last two weeks are textbook revolutionary tactics. Problem is, too few Americans have read the textbook.

It’s important to understand: The scenes playing on stage number one, the streets of Seattle, Minneapolis, Portland, Atlanta and many other cities, as ugly as they may be, are only the first phase of the revolution. This is the prelude, which serves to disrupt and distract. It is but the opening act for what is coming next.

It’s not a foregone conclusion that we will proceed to Act Two, which will be much more violent and ugly than Act One. But right now, from where I stand, it’s looking like a 50-50 chance that we will.

Activist ringleaders with Black Lives Matter and Antifa have been hired to play the role of “disrupter.” Black Lives Matter is not bashful about its role as a communist agitator only marginally connected to black lives.

Under the “what we believe” tab on its website, BLM, displaying the communist clenched fist and referring repeatedly to its “comrades,” openly names the prime target of its disruption when it states:

“We disrupt the Western prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and villages that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents and children are comfortable.”

In other words, you mothers and parents, give us your children.

This should not be surprising for it is the family that is the foundational building block of Western civilization, the very thing BLM and Antifa are warring against.

Without God and without strong families, Western civilization is no longer recognizable. It devolves into chaos and dissolves.

In its place will be those paragons of virtue and freedom such as the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone,” also called CHAZ, which has set up shop in Seattle claiming state sovereighty and no police presence. This is perhaps the boldest step in U.S. history by a Marxist group staking a claim to separate and sovereign status apart from the United States.

If these autonomous zones spread to other cities, watch out. We could be headed for a deeper, fuller revolution that moves to the next phase — which is all-out civil war.

Besides Seattle, the cities most ripe for making the leap into separate Marxist zones are the Democrat strongholds of Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles on the West Coast, Minneapolis and Chicago on the interior, followed by the predictable culprits on the East Coast. This would validate what we suspected for years, that we no longer have one America but rather two Americas — one based on the principles of private property and individual freedom found in the U.S. Constitution and the other based on a neo-Marxist utopian idea of collectivism, strictly regulated speech and no freedom of religion or right to bear arms.

The agents of this other, breakaway America appear to be laying a trap for President Trump, who right now represents traditional free America.

Trump can handle this rebellion in one of two ways. He can stand back and let them hopefully drown in their own ineptitude or he can call in the military to crush them under the Insurrection Act. Either choice carries its own set of risks and possible pay-offs.

Every day that this autonomous zone exists at the pleasure of the Seattle city government forces the Democrats to own it and look like idiots in the run up to the November election.

But make no mistake, there is risk involved in allowing such a blatant Marxist insurrection to take root on U.S. soil.

We must be careful not to dismiss these autonomous zones or the call for abolishing police as mere utopian fantasies of the left.

These police-free “no-go zones” within the United States have the potential to evolve into something more dangerous.

Talk about abolishing police sounds ridiculous on its face, but I see it as a clever Marxist snare.

History shows us that leftists and communists are not and never have been anti-police.

Marxists love police and are in fact known for setting up police states.

But they want their police to be in control of America’s streets, not the police of the old order as governed by the U.S. Constitution.

So what is to stop them, in their autonomous zones, or potentially in an entire U.S. city under the protection of radical Democrat governors, mayors and city councils, from kicking out the police who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States and replacing them with their own militias who swear an oath to uphold the Marxist principles of the breakaway Marxist city-states?

What if the city declares its allegiance, not to the Republic of the United States of America, but to the United Nations and the U.N. 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its New Urban Agenda? We could ostensibly end up with breakaway city-states, nations within a nation. [Is it mere coincidence that the family of George Floyd has called on the United Nations to intervene in the criminal case involving their son’s alleged murder?]

The new global police force would then arrive compliments of the United Nations, NATO or some other global body. Or, the new police could constitute an assemblage of thugs recruited from leftist paramilitary organizations within the United States – groups like the New Black Panthers, Nation of Islam or Jumaat al-Fuqra.

Whatever the case, you can bet that the prime-time actors in the flowering American revolution will not be the useful idiots like Black Lives Matter and Antifa that we see burning down buildings on the nightly news.

As Antonio Gramsci, the 20th century Italian communist and father of modern Cultural Marxism. said:

“The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.”

The role of the monsters is the formation of the mob. Anarchy is always the prelude, the opening act to the revolution, not the main attraction or the end game.

That mob is swelling in ranks, taking over portions of formerly great cities and claiming to be something they are not – actual rulers of slices of American real estate.

This is merely for show. The role of the mob is to destabilize and cause fear and confusion in the populace, softening them up for the main event. They won’t last long but they do create a problem that must be dealt with, one way or another.

The illusion of peace in our inner cities was always a mirage. As we’ve seen, all it takes is one viral video played over and over, devoid of context, in the propaganda media and, boom, the demons rush in. Good people flee to safer ground.

Just as the economic devastation of COVID-19 could have been avoided if folks hadn’t bought the globalists’ media propaganda about the need for lockdowns, the physical devastation of our cities could have been avoided after the tragic death of George Floyd.

Instead of moving quickly to crush the mob, we saw mayors and governors enable it. They allowed the fake-news media to legitimize the rabble rousers of lawlessness. Mayors like Bill de Blasio in New York, Jacob Frey in Minneapolis, Keisha Lance Bottoms in Atlanta and Jenny Durkan in Seattle have crowned the disrupters as “protesters” and now seek to negotiate with them.

As Col. Allen West said on Fox News Saturday, June 13, it is never wise to negotiate with a mob. “It never ends well.”

But that’s assuming these mayors want things to end well. What if they have an ulterior motive in which the mob becomes weaponized in the Marxist-Democrats’ ongoing political war against Trump? Ah, then it makes perfect sense to coddle the mob and keep it intact; to send in food and supplies to the new nation of CHAZ.

Look for these mobs to continue to be exploited in a way that makes Trump look bad leading up to the election, and for possible escalation after the election should Trump win a second term.

The lawless ones want to abolish U.S. borders, disband police departments, courts, the military, anything and everything that stands for law and order.

These are monsters who want to desecrate and destroy everything that is civilized. Why? Because they are inspired by the same demonic spirits of destruction that haunted Karl Marx.

The fact that these anarchists are now bold enough to ply their craft openly is telling.

They would find no aid and comfort in our country if we had not already succumbed to spiritual anarchy. We kicked God out of our schools, universities, courthouses and other public spaces decades ago, embracing a spiritual anarchy that has paved the way for the physical anarchy now showing its hand. The heavy ground has already been plowed.

Demons are rushing in to fill the void. Morality gets twisted and redefined, and things can move quickly.

As Vladimir Lenin said, “There are decades when nothing happens, and there are weeks when decades happen.”

Actually, there was a lot happening behind the scenes in those quiet decades, the period roughly from the end of World War II up until now. The enemy was inserting his culture warriors into positions of influence, while the Church slept and focused elsewhere.

Now the chickens are coming home to roost. They are ambushing police officers, toppling historic monuments, censoring historic books and films from America’s past. The anarchists on the streets, who lack the morals of humanity and behave as animals, enjoy the full support of billionaires in the media and entertainment industries as well as corporate America, which is falling all over itself to virtue signal their compliance with the new morality.

Cops and even National Guardsmen have been “taking a knee” and bowing in submission to the mob. Sports legends like NFL quarterback Drew Brees have apologized for standing up for the American flag. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell apologized for not letting players kneel during the National Anthem last season and the National Soccer League says it will allow its players to also disrespect the flag.

Now  players who don’t take the knee will be looked at as the bad guys who “deserve” their fate at the hands of the Twitter bullies as well as the corporate bullies, which will blackball them from lucrative sponsorships.

HBO Max has “temporarily” eliminated the classic 1939 film Gone with the Wind, claiming that allowing people to see it without explanatory notes would be racist. We common folk can no longer be trusted to watch an old movie without their warning labels and filters.

In perhaps the most ridiculous example of just how rabid these Antifa/Black Lives Matter anarchists can be, they defaced the monument to the 54th Army unit that served as the first black regiment to fight for their freedom in the Civil War [as depicted in the excellent movie Glory].

In Philadelphia, the self-proclaimed social-justice warriors spray-painted a memorial to abolitionist Mathias Baldwin. They even turned their wrath against the Lincoln Memorial, defacing a monument to the president who freed the slaves.

This just proves that their concerns have nothing to do with George Floyd, black lives or racial justice. It has everything to do with destroying a nation. You do that by erasing its history. Lenin understood that. Muhammad understood that. Today’s radicals are serving in Act One of the Second American revolution and coming civil war.

When Act Two arrives, the throw-away radicals we now see in the streets, paid for with Soros and Rockefeller money, will be rounded up and discarded. They will have fulfilled their purpose. And a new authority, either from the United Nations or some other unit of anti-American globalism, will be sent in to restore order.

Let’s pray it never gets to that point. Let’s pray for more time – time to restore order by dealing with the root cause of this rebellion. The root cause is none other than the spiritual anarchy that was allowed to flourish beneath the surface and out of sight of everyday Americans. We sat in our churches singing nice-sounding hymns while the spiritual anarchists infiltrated and took over every segment of our culture. We “took a knee,” in a sense, when we refused to apply our Christianity to life outside the church walls. Some say God judges a nation like that. But I don’t think that’s the case. He simply walks away from a nation that no longer welcomes him as the central figure of its national life.

Technocrats Turn To Ethicists To ‘Save Their Soul’

Socrates

Technocrats create because they can, not because there is a moral or ethical case to do so. In their mind, technology is not ethical or moral and therefore does not deserve a consideration during the development processes. ⁃ TN Editor

Fifty-two floors below the top of Salesforce Tower, I meet Paula Goldman in a glass-paneled conference room where the words EQUALITY OFFICE are spelled out on a patchwork bunting banner, the kind of decoration you might buy for a child’s birthday party.

Goldman has a master’s degree from Princeton and a Ph.D. from Harvard, where she studied how controversial ideas become mainstream. She arrived at Salesforce just over a year ago to become its first-ever Chief Ethical and Humane Use Officer, taking on an unprecedented and decidedly ambiguous title that was created specifically for her unprecedented, ambiguous, yet highly specific job: see to it that Salesforce makes the world better, not worse.

“I think we’re at a moment in the industry where we’re at this inflection point,” Goldman tells me. “I think the tech industry was here before, with security in the ’80s. All of a sudden there were viruses and worms, and there needed to be a whole new way of thinking about it and dealing with it. And you saw a security industry grow up after that. And now it’s just standard protocol. You wouldn’t ship a major product without red-teaming it or making sure the right security safeguards are in it.”

“I think we’re at a similar moment with ethics,” she says. “It requires not only having a set of tools by which to do the work, but also a set of norms, that it’s important. So how do you scale those norms?”

I ask her how those norms are decided in the first place.

“In some sense, it’s the billion-dollar question,” she says. “All of these issues are extremely complicated, and there’s very few of them where the answer is just absolutely clear. Right? A lot of it does come down to, which values are you holding up highest in your calculus?”

···

In the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, employee walkouts, and other political and privacy incidents, tech companies faced a wave of calls to hire what researchers at the Data & Society Research Institute call “ethics owners,” people responsible for operationalizing “the ancient, domain-jumping, and irresolvable debates about human values that underlie ethical inquiry” in practical and demonstrable ways.

Salesforce hired Goldman away from the Omidyar Network as the culmination of a seven-month crisis-management process that came after Salesforce employees protested the company’s involvement in the Trump administration’s immigration work. Other companies, responding to their own respective crises and concerns, have hired a small cadre of similar professionals — philosophers, policy experts, linguists and artists — all to make sure that when they promise not to be evil, they actually have a coherent idea of what that entails.

So then what happened?

While some tech firms have taken concrete steps to insert ethical thinking into their processes, Catherine Miller, interim CEO of the ethical consultancy Doteveryone, says there’s also been a lot of “flapping round” the subject.

Critics dismiss it as “ethics-washing,” the practice of merely kowtowing in the direction of moral values in order to stave off government regulation and media criticism. The term belongs to the growing lexicon around technology ethics, or “tethics,” an abbreviation that began as satire on the TV show “Silicon Valley,” but has since crossed over into occasionally earnest usage.

“If you don’t apply this stuff in actual practices and in your incentive structures, if you don’t have review processes, well, then, it becomes like moral vaporware,” says Shannon Vallor, a philosopher of technology at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University. “It’s something that you’ve promised and you meant to deliver, but it never actually arrived.”

Google, infamously, created an AI Council and then, in April of last year, disbanded it after employees protested the inclusion of an anti-LGBTQ advocate. Today, Google’s approach to ethics includes the use of “Model Cards” that aim to explain its AI.

“That’s not anything that has any teeth,” says Michael Brent, a data ethicist at Enigma and a philosophy professor at the University of Denver. “That’s just like, ‘Here’s a really beautiful card.'”

The company has made more-substantial efforts: Vallor just completed a tour of duty at Google, where she taught ethics seminars to engineers and helped the company implement governance structures for product development. “When I talk about ethics in organizational settings, the way I often present it is that it’s the body of moral knowledge and moral skill that helps people and organizations meet their responsibilities to others,” Vallor tells me.

More than 100 Google employees have attended ethics trainings developed at the Markkula center. The company also developed a fairness module as part of its Machine Learning Crash Course, and updates its list of “responsible AI practices” quarterly. “The vast majority of the people who make up these companies want to build products that are good for people,” Vallor says. “They really don’t want to break democracy, and they really don’t want to create threats to human welfare, and they really don’t want to decrease literacy and awareness of reality in society. They want to make things they’re proud of. So am I going to do what I can to help them achieve that? Yes.”

···

The Markkula center, where Vallor works, is named after Mike Markkula Jr., the “unknown” Apple co-founder who, in 1986, gave the center a starting seed grant in the same manner that he gave the young Steve Jobs an initial loan. He never wanted his name to be on the building — that was a surprise, a token of gratitude, from the university.

Markkula has retreated to living a quiet life, working from his sprawling gated estate in Woodside. These days, he doesn’t have much contact with the company he started — “only when I have something go wrong with my computer,” he tells me. But when he arrived at the Santa Clara campus for an orientation with his daughter in the mid-’80s, he was Apple’s chairman, and he was worried about the way things were going in the Valley. “It was clear to us both, Linda [his wife] and I, that there were quite a few people who were in decision-making positions who just didn’t have ethics on their radar screen,” he says. “It’s not that they were unethical, they just didn’t have any tools to work with.”
