NYC Says No More Co-Mingling Of Inside A/C and Outside Air

TN Note: NY City won’t let any store throw open its doors on hot summer days to give cool-air relief to passers-by. Gotta fight global warming and save on air conditioning bills.

You’re trudging down a city block in sweltering August heat, when suddenly you get a breath of relief — a momentary, blissful breeze from a store blasting its AC through open doors.

Take one wild guess who hates it? Mayor de Blasio.

“It’s always been a pet peeve of mine,” he said this week as he signed a law forcing stores and restaurants to close doors and windows while air conditioners are running. Fines can run to $1,000.

“It’s the middle of summer in New York City, it’s 90 degrees, you walk by a store, and the door is wide open and the air-conditioning is blasting. That’s wasting a lot of energy. That’s having its own impact on global warming,” he said.

A tiny impact, in fact.

And “waste” is in the eye of the beholder: The AC-blasters are buying the goodwill of passersby, and maybe seducing a few to come in, cool off and browse.

Even though I really dislike this far left liberal mayor of NY, I have to agree that he is totally correct. I know, I’m a journey man A.C. repairman…Just let me go on to say that gov’t is our biggest enemy when it comes to A.C. refrigerants like 134a r12. Guess what, the gov’t/e.p.a. are say now that 134a has to be replaced by 2020. This is all for the Chem Co’s to make BILLIONS of the consumers. R-12 was the best ref. that ever was produced.
