The logo of Technocracy is alternatively described as the Monad or Yin Yang symbol. Reddit explains that it was “intended to symbolize a balance between man and his environment. The words ‘ecology’ and ‘sustainability’ had not yet really been popularized yet, so Technocracy referred to this as a ‘dynamic equilibrium.’” According to Britannica, “The concept of yinyang is associated in Chinese thought with the idea of the Five Phases (wuxing)—metal, wood, water, fire, and earth—both of these ideas lending substance to the characteristically Chinese belief in a cyclical theory of becoming and dissolution and an interdependence between the world of nature and human events.” Both thoughts describe Technocracy perfectly, and you can immediately see the connection to modern Sustainable Development with its obsession to balance human consumption with available resources.
