During the chaos of the Covid era in 2021, Hyundai quietly bought the leading robot company, Boston Dynamics. It said at the time that it "aims to develop advanced technologies that enhance people’s lives and promote safety, thereby realizing progress for humanity." Fu you. The robots are poised to take over manufacturing at their auto plants. So much for progress for humanity. So, the humans are striking.

There are no laws against this to slow or stop its spread. Leonardo DRS is a defense contractor whose website says, "These cutting-edge sensing systems provide targeting, surveillance, and protection capabilities based on our advanced electro-optical, infrared, electronic warfare, and tactical radar systems."

Ramping Up: Current State Of Robotics In 2026

In 2025, I forecast that 2026 would be the "Year of the Robot" and it's right on track. Analysts at this CITI Research conference agree that physical AI has moved past the demo stage and reached commercial deployment. The entire industry could be stalled by the AI bubble, lack of training data, and dislocations is the chip industry, but it is here to stay in the long term. Most robots will be deployed as Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS).

This is a model amendment to state constitutions — a Digital Bill of Rights each state can write into its own constitution, not a proposed federal amendment. The choice of the states is deliberate. A firewall against a transnational architecture is not built at the summit, where compacts and constitutions-for-humanity are convened; it is built at the level nearest to consent, where the routing-around is hardest.
