All major AI developers are racing to create "agents" that will perform tasks on your computer: Apple, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, Anthropic, etc. AI Agents will read your computer screen, browse the Internet, and perform tasks on your computer. Hidden agents will be harvesting your personal data, analyzing your hard drives for contraband, and ratting you out to the police. It's a brave new world, after all.

It's hard to conceive how large AI centers have become, each sucking ginormous power from the grid and covering acres of floor space. Google, for instance, is building out 750,000 square feet on 187 acres in Mesa, Arizona. There is a rush to build modular nuclear reactors for power and develop tech to integrate separate data centers.

While you still have some reasoning power left, you should consider this deeply philosophical question: does AI think the way humans think? The only way you might think that is based on language, where AI is giving you answers in your own language. But what if AI creates its own digital language to explain the world and everything in it? Communicating with you will be like a speed bump, even an inconvenience. Why would it bother? Artificial thinking is not human thinking.

Sam Altman is a Technocrat who plays the long game. When he first got involved with OpenAI in 2015, he jockeyed to take the helm in 2019 but he was constrained by a board of directors. By 2023, the Board saw through him and ousted him. Then the real Sam Altman appeared as he "clawed his way back to power", kicked the directors off the board and reconstituted another board subservient to him.

Oh, Sam, Sam. You greedy, greedy megalomaniac. You turned your back on everything that could have benefited mankind in favor of your own personal aggrandizement. In the meantime, you have run off the great talent that could have insured a safe, useable product. Your reckless pursuit of AGI and ASI will affect billions of people on planet Earth.

When Apple introduced Siri (a personal assistant) in October 2011, the world got its first taste of AI. Since then, Siri has improved considerably, and now Apple, after spending billions over the years, is about to introduce Apple Intelligence. Who cares? The top uses for Siri are checking the weather and playing music, while 85% of users prefer to type search queries.
