Technocracy

Scholarly analysis explicitly describes Nineteen Eighty-Four as a “technocratic dystopia,” as a counterpoint to H.G. Wells' concept of benevolent scientific planners. Wells directly referenced “Technocracy” in The Shape of Things to Come, describing it as an attempt to restate economics on a physical-energy basis and imagining scientific elites governing a rationally ordered world, a vision very close to technocratic ideology. Orwell said that Wells “confused mechanical progress with justice, liberty, and common decency."

A new "Manhattan Project" has been declared by President Trump to urgently accelerate America straight into Technocracy.  All the stops have been removed. No nook and cranny of American life will escape. No element of science will remain untouched. The EO was undoubtedly written by Technocrats for Technocrats. It will forever backstop any whim of Technocrats with trillions of dollars of taxpayer funds, accelerating America into a new age of Dark Enlightenment. THIS IS THE FINAL BETRAYAL!

It's a complete giveaway of national data to arch-Technocrats and their Technocracy machine to take over America. Meanwhile, Congress is clueless about what just took place: the nationalization of the entire AI/tech industry by the Federal government or vice versa. Either way, Trump is delivering us into a black hole of Technocracy. The "Mission" will be headed by arch-Technocrat Michael Kratsios, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

Arch-Technocrat TechBro Billionaire Trilateral Commission member Eric Schmidt is not someone you should trust with your future. Indeed, he might be playing the spider in the timeless poem, "The Spider and the Fly." But the point is made: the world is cracking apart, and people (especially Zoomers) are being seduced by Technocracy's siren call of efficiency, neutrality, and impartiality. Security is not found in Universal Basic Income, nor is happiness found in "trusting the algorithm." Nevertheless, the world is caving in.

The Mideast in general and Saudi Arabia in particular, with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) leading the charge, is over-the-top in love with Technocracy. Perhaps MBS sees himself as a modern-day Nimrod, the Biblical figure who built the Tower of Babel. If so, he is in a fierce race with other dictators in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq to hang on to the title. Collectively, these countries are spending over $1 trillion over the next few years on state-of-the-art smart cities.

This opinion piece in USA Today openly expresses a growing sentiment that we have been betrayed. This extends far beyond Libertarians. Everybody who voted for Trump feels betrayed, except for a few remaining Trumpists who have turned politics into a religion with blinders on.
