They are one step away from full-blown human gene editing, but first things first. But, "Unibabies"? Taking cells from males and females in any combination can produce either eggs or sperm, which can be united to create an implantable embryo that could be used in a human surrogate or an artificial incubator. This was predicted in Huxley's Brave New World, which was written in 1932.
